FAQs

Most camp days have two to three major activities. For example, your camper may go fishing at the farm in the morning, visit a high-ropes feature (like the Rockwall or giant swing) after lunch, and end their day on the pond kayaking or paddleboarding.

Wednesdays are typically field trip days and will include a Field trip to the Palmerton Pool or Whitewater rafting (depending on the choice you made when filling out required paperwork)

Fridays typically include a trip to the Summit Aerial Park (onsite). Most weeks, campers enjoy a scenic lift ride up the mountain and then hike over to the park.
Schedules and activities vary week to week and no activities are guaranteed.

  • New this year, instead of field trips being mandated by age, each camper will be able to make a choice of which field trip they would like to go on. Every camper will choose their field trip on their required forms and documents, before arriving for their first day of camp.
  • Your child will be expected at that field trip unless we have 48 hours’ notice of any desired changes.
  • Whitewater Rafting on the Lehigh River OR Palmerton Memorial Pool
  • Whitewater Rafting is the Family Float section with river swimming, smaller to medium rapids, and a riverside picnic. This is a full day experience where campers will float the “easier” whitewater. Everyone is required to wear a provided life vest. Counselors or experienced Counselors-in-Training will be in each boat and river guides from Jim Thorpe River Adventures lead the trip.
  • Palmerton Memorial Pool is a large community pool with a large wading area, giant slide, and diving boards. The group will spend a few hours here in the middle of the day.
  • Field trips do not cost extra and are included with your child’s camp enrollment cost.

When enrolling, you will make a choice of the program based on Age. These programs help us with grouping. There is some overlap to allow the parent & camper some choice based on preferences of who their camper is with.
a) Ruggies (5-7 years old)
b) Groms (7-11 years old)
c) Gurus / Overnight Camp (10-15 years old)
d) Bike Camp (7-15 years old)

Day Camps are typically COED and overnight groups are typically based off the gender selection you specify when signing your child up.

Groups typically have 7 to 12 kids in them. Each group has a Lead Counselor and an Assistant Counselor or a Counselor-in-Training (CIT). Each specialized activity (high ropes, waterfront, fishing, etc.) has an additional adult staff member who specializes specifically in that activity.

  • On the Camper Application, you can designate name(s) of other campers who your child should be “bunked” or grouped with. You can also specify name(s) of campers to NOT “share a bunk” / be grouped with if you desire to split siblings or friends up.
  • We cannot fully guarantee your child is in a group with everyone they request to be with, but we can typically accommodate requests.
  • The other child’s application should also mention your child’s name as a request.
  • Keep in mind, they should be within an age group of the tracks offered.

All menus are child-friendly, nutritionally approved and served fresh each day. If your child is a picky eater or has dietary accommodations needed, please see below.
For Day Campers, lunch is provided Monday through Friday. It is typically one main course with one or two sides. Periodically, a dessert is served after lunch or in the afternoon. Each child will be offered a single serving first and second servings are offered if there is food leftover. If your child tends to eat multiple servings at lunch or enjoys snacks throughout the day, we recommend sending snacks to supplement.
For Overnight Campers, dinner is provided Sunday – Thursday night. Lunch is provided daily with the rest of camp and breakfast is served Monday through Friday.
Most breakfasts and dinners are served in the air-conditioned Adventure Center in a buffet cafeteria style with some choices possible.
As your camp session approaches, you should have access to a sample menu in your CampMinder documents.
If bringing your own food, we are a peanut free camp.

Dietary accommodations can be made for Vegan, Vegetarian, Gluten Free, Dairy Free, & most allergies. Any dietary restrictions OR food allergies must be noted on your Camper’s Health Form in CampMinder. Campers are allowed to bring snacks and other food items but cannot share them with other campers.

There’s nothing like the adventure of sleeping outdoors! Overnight campers will be assigned to a group tent with 3 to 10 campers in each. There are twin sized bunk beds and mattresses in each tent with a solar light inside and a deck outside the tent. Each tent has a counselor assigned to its supervision and sleeping in an adjacent tent.
Tents are group by gender based on the determination you make on your camper’s application.
There are porta johns located at tents for campers to use during overnight hours. Your camper will have opportunities to use a public restroom in the morning and evening, typically during breakfast and dinner.
Shower cabins are offered to your child daily. Your child’s group will have a scheduled time they are able to use the shower cabins towards the end of each day. We will encourage but not force any campers to shower.
In addition, we have an Overnight Supervisor who is responsible for the overall planning and supervision of overnight activities. This person stays up well into the night to make sure campers are resting and recharging for their following camp day. Campers will always know where they can find this person at any hour.

Phones are not permitted on any camper during Day Camp hours (9am to 5pm).
For overnight campers – Phones will live in the air-conditioned, secure space with power to charge any devices they brought. They will have two opportunities a day to use their electronic devices (breakfast & dinner).

Medications are NOT allowed to be on a camper, in their backpack, or in a tent unless specifically authorized by a camp leader. This includes any over-the-counter medication or prescribed medication. All medications sent to camp with your child MUST be handed to a camp leader or nurse during the check-in process.
Exceptions authorized by a camp leader may include emergency medications such as inhalers or EpiPens. The counselor and all camp leadership will be notified the child is carrying that medication.
All medication is stored in a locked location and given to the respective camper at needed times. It can be quickly accessed by authorized staff in the event of an emergency.
Staff will not administer any medication. They will only give the appropriate dosage to the camper for them to take / administer themselves.
All Camp staff are basic first aid and CPR certified. A higher first aid trained staff (Outdoor Emergency Care) is onsite during activity hours. The camp’s nurse is always available for consultation, and we are only 10 minutes from urgent care.

Bike camp is for those campers who LOVE to bike! While most groups hike from activity to activity, bike campers ride their bikes. They still get to do most of the activities offered at camp (archery, high ropes & ziplining, field trips, Summit Aerial Park, pond activities, etc.) but they have a lot more biking activities than typical campers. They also work on a biking skills progression throughout the week working on pavement, grassy areas, bike park features, pump tracks, and possibly even the downhill mountain biking trails.
Your child belongs in bike camp if they can confidently ride a bike without assistance or training wheels and they are eager to improve their biking skills. This group typically has a variety of ability levels in it, but all riders must have the basic skills & athletic ability to ride easy cross-country terrain already.
All Bike Camp participants will have access to cross country bikes, pump track / BMX bikes, and a Downhill Mountain Bike for a $100 weekly charge. Campers can bring their own bike(s) but they will be evaluated for use on the first day. XC bikes must have gears, hand brakes, and a front shock/suspension.
If your child signs up for bike camp and would prefer to be in a regular group for the rest of the week, we can move them however, this is not ideal as day 1 is teambuilding.

Early drop-off includes breakfast with the overnight campers for $125/week. The earliest you can drop a day camper off is 8:00am. They are expected to be dropped off by 9am daily.
Late pick-up includes dinner (Mon – Thurs) with the overnight campers for $125/week. The latest you can pick-up a day camper is 6pm (5:30p on Friday).
If you need an earlier drop-off or later pick-up option, we have them for an additional fee! Please email us for more information.
