Blue Mountain Youth Competition is for skiers and snowboarders ages 5 to 18 - welcome to the big leagues!  If you're ready to take skiing or riding up a notch, you've come to the right place.  Enrolling into our Blue Mountain Youth Competition is an important step to achieve continued learning and experience being part of a team.

Developmental

Developmental Mountaineers is a 90 minute program designed for skiers or snowboarders ages 5 (before Dec. 31, 2016) and 6 not ready for the full 4-hour Mountaineer Program.  The emphasis will be on developing skills and preparing for the Mountaineers.  All children ready for this program should be capable of handling beginner terrain, riding the chair lift without an adult, and be able to follow directions in their groups.

  •  Ages 5-6  Skiers & Snowboarders

Thank you for your interest in the Developmental Mountaineer program.  Registration for Developmental Mountaineers is closed.  In order to provide a high level of coaching at appropriate student to coach ratios, we are no longer accepting any additional participants for this season.  We encourage you to register early next season. Please direct inquiries to racing@skibluemt.com.

All participants meet at 9am on Saturday January 7, 2017 so we can evaluate skiing & riding skills and physical development.  Participants will be grouped and assigned a session after this evaluation.  This program is scheduled to start on Jan 7, 2017 and continues every Saturday and Sunday through February 26, 2017.  (start date is dependent upon Winter Season open date).

A Season Pass or lift tickets must be purchased to participate in the program.

There will be two sessions each day to keep the groups as small as possible:

Mountaineer

Mountaineer

This 4-hour program is designed for intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders ages 6 - 12. Emphasis will be on strengthening skiing & riding skills and developing the initial steps of racing or freestyle technique. Participants will be divided into classes depending on their age, ability and focus.  All children ready for this program must be capable of riding the chair lift without an adult and be able to follow group directions.

Competition Program

Competition Program

The Junior Competition Program is designed for advanced skiers & snowboarders ages 13 - 18. The emphasis will be on advanced racing and freestyle techniques to prepare for competition.

  •  Ages 13-18  Freestyle Skiers & Snowboarders
  •  Ages 10-18  Alpine Skiers

This program is scheduled to start on Dec 17, 2016 and continues every Saturday and Sunday through February 26, 2017.  (start date is dependent upon Winter Season open date).

Participants are grouped into the disciplines of Alpine skiing, Freestyle skiing, snowboarding & Moguls. A Season Pass or lift tickets must be purchased to participate in the program.

USSA Alpine Ski Classifications:

     U10  (born 2007 - 2008)
     U12  (born 2005 - 2006)
     U14  (born 2003 - 2004)
     U16  (born 2001 - 2002)
     U19  (born 1998 - 2000)

All Junior Alpine Competitors must join the Pennsylvania Alpine Racing Association (PARA) and the United States Ski Association (USSA), registration deadlines are Oct 15, 2016. All Jr. Freestyle competitors should join the United States of America Snowboard (USASA) and Freeski Association, registration deadline Nov. 1, 2016. More PARA, USSA and USASA info on page 5.

USASA Freestyle Classifications vary depending upon discipline or event.

Freestyle skiers & snowboarders will train separately.  Participants will be split into groups with ages and ability taken into consideration.  For more information about our competition programs, please email racing@skibluemt.com

Extended Training

Extended Training

Alpine - Alpine training is available every Tuesday and Thursday 4:30pm to 6:30pm and Wednesday 4:30pm to 7:30pm. Participants must be competing in PARA at the U12 to U21 levels.

Freestyle - Freestyle training is available every Tuesday and Thursday 6pm to 8pm.  Participants must be presently enrolled in our Junior Freestyle program.

Extended Training for Alpine & Freestyle is designed to better prepare our athletes for the demands of competition.  Extended Training is scheduled to start on Jan 3, 2017 and continue every Tues, Wed & Thurs through Feb 28, 2017.  (start date is dependent upon Winter Season open date).

* Skiers or snowboarders who cannot make all days per week may register for the day or days of the week that they wish to train.  Participants that choose an individual training day will not be able to make up missed days on another day. Holiday Camp

Holiday Camp

Blue Mountain offers a Holiday Camp for Alpine and Freestyle participants. Camp consists of evaluation and development of skiing or riding skills. Emphasis of this camp is skiing & snowboarding skill development.  U10-U14 alpine racers will have limited gate training. Indoor sessions may be included in case of inclement weather. Camp participants must be enrolled in one of the Blue Mountain Junior Competition Programs.

A note to Junior Athletes and Parents:

All Mountaineer and Competition Program are held both weekend days.  Mountaineer and Competition program registration forms found in the Junior Program Booklet must be submitted in order to participate.
