I just wanted to thank you and your team for the exceptional job you did at Adventure Camp. Both boys had an amazing time and made great friends and even better memories. In regards to Caleb, I cannot thank you enough. He came home very different! He was proud of himself, amazed at all of the things he did and enjoyed, was so happy about the friends he made. He told me so many stories about the counselors, his new friends etc. He really felt like he was part of everything, not just there and not good enough, as he often feels in situations. He realized he can make friends easier then he thought he could. You have no idea how much that means to me and how good I feel sending him off to highschool in 3 weeks.
The counselors did so much for his self esteem and helped him to see himself in such a different way then he normally does. Their genuine love for the boys when I picked them up was so moving. Genuine is huge to me. I really felt like they were invested in the boys and enjoyed them because of who they are, not because I am the mom who kept emailing...lol. Emma McIvor who was one of his main counselors will be in the same highschool as him and when we came to get him Friday she was speaking about seeing him in a few weeks and giving recommendations of clubs he should join. I am unsure if a 17 year old realizes what that does for a 14 year old who is nervous to start highschool. She made him feel accepted and welcome and like he will be a valuable part of school. That simple interaction and conversation conveys so much to someone and is a priceless gift. Howie was a big hit as well, although I did not get to meet him. Cambry was awesome with Andrew and honestly all of the other counselors they spoke of (I cannot remember the nicknames). They had nothing but funny, cool stories about your entire team.
As Rollercoaster said, she was glad to know how to teach to Caleb's strengths, I believe every counselor did that and I am so thankful.
I knew when my son Tim started to teach snowboarding at Blue 2 years ago that it was a positive, well structured, accountable environment full of people who really invest in helping kids be the best version of themselves. It is obvious that this is consistent in all of your programs. I know many of your counselors are ski and snowboard instructors and the character these kids and young adults have is so impressive. While I am sure they are good kids who have a passion for the outdoors, I also believe the environment and opportunities at Blue assist in continuing growth of character.
So in short, all I can say is thank you everyone. You were beyond wonderful and helped me to accomplish something with my children that I could not do alone. I will be forever greatful and we look forward to many more years of amazing life experiences with you all.
