THIRD ANNUAL CARDBOARD BOX DERBY

MARCH 15,2009

• Registration will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the Summit Lodge. •
• The race will start promptly at 1:00 p.m. •
RULES
1 All cardboard crafts must be built solely of cardboard, duct tape, string, glue,
and paper. Any other material in any part of the craft is grounds for disqualification.
2 Tape is permissable on the surface of the craft where it meets the snow.
3 Crew members may use any safe means to slow the craft, however the method must be
able to stop the craft and not contain any unauthorized material.
4 Teams may consist of one to four members.
5 Crew members must wear non-hazardous clothing.
6 All participants must be 10 years of age or older.
7 All participants must sign a release form, under 18 years of age requires parental consent.
These may be filled out at registration or you can get them off our website.
8 Prizes will be awarded at the discretion of the judges.
The decision of the event committee concerning awards or disqualification is final.
9 Unsportsmanlike conduct is grounds for disqualification.
10 No strapping into crafts, nor can a craft be completely enclosed with a participant inside.
11 Each participant is responsible for clearing the mountain of their craft after the race.
12 Teams must register in the Summit Lodge prior to the start of the event.
There will be a mandatory captains meeting before the start of the race.
Failure to attend this meeting will result in the teams disqualification.
13 All participants must wear a manufacturer helmet.
14 All teams must adhere strictly to the rules or they will not be allowed to run.
15 Each team will get one timed run down the course.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK AND RELEASE

I the undersigned know that cardboard box derby racing is an action sport carrying significant risk of serious personal injury, death or property damage. I also know that there are natural and environmental conditions and risks, which independently or in combination with my activities may cause property damage, or severe even fatal injuries to others or me.

I agree that I alone am responsible for my safety while participating in competitive events and/or training for competitive events. Entities including the Blue Mountain Ski Area, the promoters, the sponsors, the organizers, the promoter clubs, the officials, and any agent representative, officer, director, employee, member affiliate of any person or entity named above are not responsible for my safety. I specifically RELEASE and DISCHARGE, in advance, those parties from any and all liability, whether known or unknown, even though that liability may arise out of negligence or carelessness on the part of persons or entities mentioned above. I agree to accept all responsibility for the risks, conditions and hazards, including lift towers and snowmaking equipment such as guns, hydrants, and hoses, which may occur whether they be known or unknown.

Being fully aware of the risks, conditions and hazards of the proposed activity as a competitor, coach or official, I HEREBY AGREE TO WAIVE, RELEASE AND DISCHARGE any and all claims for damages which may hereafter accrue to us as a result of my participation in competitive events, against any person or entity mentioned above whether such injury or damage was foreseeable or not foreseeable.

I further agree to forever hold harmless and indemnify all persons and entities identified for death and/or personal injury or property damage resulting in any way from my participating in competitive events or training for competitive events.

I agree that I will accept and abide by the rules and regulations imposed by the organizers of any particular competition.

This acknowledgement of and assumption of risk and release shall be binding upon heirs, my assigns, legal representatives, and me.

I agree that all disputes arising under this contract and/or from my use of the facilities at Blue Mountain shall be litigated exclusively in the Court of Common Please of Carbon County or in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania.

I, the undersigned, have carefully read and understand this agreement and all of its terms. I enter into this agreement freely and voluntarily.

All persons under the age of 18 must have the signature of a parent or legal guardian.
